Ford is returning to the FIA World Rally Championship as a full factory team from 2028 – and we couldn’t be more excited.
Ford has officially announced its return to the World Rally Championship (WRC), marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the Blue Oval and its long-standing connection with rallying.
From 2028, Ford Racing will compete as a full factory-backed team in partnership with M-Sport, bringing Ford back to the highest level of the WRC for the first time since 2012.
For Ford, rallying is about much more than competition. It has played a major role in the development of some of the brand's most exciting and memorable performance cars over the past 50 years, and Ford says its return to the WRC will help shape the next generation of European road cars.
Speaking about the announcement, Ford Europe President Jim Baumbick highlighted the unique connection between rallying and the cars customers drive every day – with the performance, engineering and technology developed for competition helping to influence future Ford vehicles.
